For over three decades, the Bath Decorative Antiques Fair has been a cornerstone of the UK antiques community, drawing collectors, designers, and antique lovers from around the world. Launched in 1989, our fair is known for its exceptional curation of decorative antiques, spanning centuries and styles, providing a premier destination for those seeking unique furniture, artwork, gardenalia, textiles, and rare collectibles.
On acquiring the Bath Decorative Antiques Fair in 2011, Sue and Peter Ede of Cooper Events were keen to retain the atmosphere of this cherished event and the exhibitors, many of whom have been with the fair since it started, have stayed on and enjoy working with the new owners. The fair was previously run by Robin Coleman, the Bath-based dealer, who founded the fair in 1989 and organised it for 23 years.
After 31 years, the Fair is still the leading regional event to beat, with a vibrant mix of exhibitors from across the UK and Europe where rustic to refined ultra-relevant stylish English Country House style, Mid Century design, industrial chic, Swedish period painted furniture, period portraits and perennially fashionable crusty iron garden furniture will rub shoulders with decorative staples of the 80s and 90s now back in demand by a new and younger audience – French marble top chocolatiers’ tables, elaborate brass and steel bakers’ racks, buffets and armoires in fruitwood, huge pine refectory tables and Windsor chairs, rows of yellow confit pots, pub signs, marine and advertising ephemera, homely Staffordshire dogs, samplers and quilts and yes, large scale oak, mahogany and walnut brown furniture re-imagined by a new generation of decorators and collectors.
Sue Ede is well known, with her husband Peter, for organising major antiques fairs across the UK for the past 30 years. As Cooper Events, they stage The Annual Buxton Antiques Fair, The Pavilions of Harrogate Antiques, The Cotswolds Antiques Fair & The Chester Antiques Fair
Sue and Peter also runs The Shepton Flea at the Bath & West Showground – an event which attracts many trade and private buyers across the antiques, vintage and collectables market.
