Bath’s Annual Antiques Splash!

2015

The 26th Bath Decorative Antiques Fair, The Pavilion, Bath BA2 4EU

The Bath Decorative Antiques Fair takes place for the 26th year at The Pavilion, Bath from 6th – 8th

March 2015. Leading specialist dealers from across the country provide a colourful marketplace for the

most inspirational, decorative and unusual antiques.

The very special Bath Decorative Antiques Fair is one of those very few annual events that attracts

dealers and collectors together for an occasion that has a totally unique style all of its own. ‘It’s the flair

and imagination of our exhibitors who together create such an inspiring show,’ explains organiser Sue

Ede, for who this will be her third event at the helm. With Scandinavian and French painted furniture,

Mid-Century Modern, Art Deco and 20th Century Industrial Chic alongside early folk art, country

furniture, Arts & Crafts, textiles and a good dash of Georgian and Victorian furniture, it’s a fair with a

display that defies every pigeonhole in the book!

Held in the Pavilion building, just a few minutes walk from the centre of Bath, it’s a fair with adjacent

car parking and very close to so many of the city’s top restaurants and bars. ‘People come for a couple of

days to visit the fair and explore Bath and beyond,’ adds Sue, ‘it’s a charming and historic city that’s got

so much to offer.’

Combining all kinds of furniture, interior fitments, garden statuary and folk art with early pottery, naïve

paintings, textiles, glass, metalwork and all kinds of collectables, forty-five specialist exhibitors make

this event an unforgettable opportunity for interior designers, home decorators and collectors. Many of

the exhibitors do not show regularly at any other comparable event, spending months acquiring fresh

stock especially for Bath.

For 2015, look out for an influx of West Country exhibitors who have not shown for several years

joining many regulars. It’s a formula guaranteed to ensure there is an eye-catching range of stock for

Trade and private buyers. “If you haven’t been for a year or two, now is the time to pay anther visit,

the fair has evolved quite dramatically in the past two years, but the emphasis continues to be on fresh

discoveries,’ says Sue.Founding Fathers & Family

If ever exhibitors were loyal to a fair, it’s the Bath Decorative. A host of dealers has been showing for 25

years, many more than a decade. Names like Terrie & Marie Kelly specialising in folk art and country

furniture, Cherie & Michael Todd, with folk art, pottery and textiles, and West Country dealers Carr

Linford and David Levi with decorative furniture and treen. Among the regulars will be Appledore

Antiques, Apollo Antiques, Paul Drewett, William Morris, Sevilla Hercolani, David Ford, D.J. Green,

Scarab, Elham Antiques, Erna Hiscox and John Shepherd, Lynda Townsend Bateson and Amy Perry, Bohm

Antiques, Nikke Page, Guy Dennler, Casa Nova, Scandinavian by Design and Etalage.

Young Guns Firing

Last year, the new generation of dealers collaborating as ‘Young Guns of the Antiques Trade’ were showing

and back they come for 2015. Look out for George Lily Antiques, Nana Dobbie from Brighton, Doe &

Hope from Bedfordshire, No 1 Lewes and EddintheClouds from the Cotswolds. Together, they are proving

to be a popular inspiration for new collectors.

New Faces

Several dealers will be making their debut, notably Gilli Hanna Decorative Antiques from Chipping

Norton, Wigs on the Green, specialising in period portrait miniatures, Molly & Maud’s Place from

Yorkshire, The Just William Collection from London, and Dig Haüshizzle from Bristol, specialising in

taxidermy, lighting, anatomy prints and unusual objects. Another Young Gun member, Rob Hall Antiques

from Northamptonshire, joins the fair too, and from Devon, Aspire Antiques with a range of English and

Continental furniture and accessories.
